When you choose St. Charles of New York as your specialized design firm, you will be assured the uniquely rewarding experience of achieving a kitchen that is elegantly planned and beautifully appointed, a personal space that will delight you every day and enhance the value of your home.
As a first step, we encourage you to visit our 3,000-sq.-ft. showroom on the 8th floor of the Architects and Designers Building at 150 E. 58th St. (between Third Ave. and Lexington Ave.) in New York City. We're open from 9-5 Monday through Friday.
You'll be able to see first-hand examples of our quality designs and products in all styles from traditional to contemporary.
When you're ready, one of our designers will be happy to spend about an hour consulting with you on the scope and look of your project. There is no fee for an initial consultation in the showroom. Because our work is totally custom, it is not possible to quote pricing and list specifications upfront.
After that meeting, we will prepare a written proposal that summarizes your project and provides an estimate. At that stage, like other design professionals, we ask for a retainer before proceeding. The amount will depend on the scope of your project, and will be applied toward your project's final cost. We generally find that our clients invest between 20 percent to 25 percent of the overall value of their home in a kitchen.
If you are working with an interior designer and/or architect, we invite them to join you in the showroom. Or we can contact them later.
In most cases, we recommend that a homeowner undertake a kitchen project with us in conjunction with an architect and an interior designer so that all aspects of your project are given thorough consideration. If you are beginning a project and would like to work with an architect, interior designer or allied professional, we can recommend someone to you.
We can also recommend a reputable, qualified general contractor, if you have not yet selected one. Typically our projects are part of extensive new construction and/or a renovation of the entire home and a general contractor has already been chosen. Either way, we always work very closely with the contractor's tradespeople to insure the integrity of the finished project.
